Workbook titles now match the slides
Hi everyone,
To help you switch between the slides and the workbooks more easily while you prepare for Term Test 1, I updated the workbooks for Lectures 4 to 12 so that their sections, groups and titles match the lecture slides.
The content is the same
All the lessons, examples, questions and answers are the same as before. Apart from the new titles, there are only some small corrections and a few optional practice checks from the slides, all listed below.
Your work is safe. The work you've done, the XP you've earned and the boss problems you've solved all carry over to the new version. No graded question, answer or XP value has changed.
Term Test 1 covers Lectures 1 to 12
The Term Test 1 syllabus was still showing the old coverage (up to Lecture 13). It now correctly says up to Lecture 12.
What changed in Lectures 4 to 12
- Section and checkpoint titles now match the slide titles, and the sidebar is grouped by the slide sections.
- The sidebar opens only the section you are reading. Click "Expand all" at the top of it to open every section, and "Collapse all" to go back.
- A few short examples and "Check" questions from the slides were added. Their answers are hidden under "Show the answer". They are for practice only and do not affect your XP or progress.
- The Review section is now at the end of each workbook, after Coding Practice. The review questions come first, followed by summary tables from the slides.
Small fixes
While making that change, I also fixed some small typos and tidied up a few explanations. Nothing significant. For the most part, the titles are what you'll notice.
- Lecture 4: Checkpoint 7 now explains that Check only tests the value 35.
- Lecture 5: Clearer wording on remainders and divisibility, and in the resistance problem.
- Lecture 6: The Receipt practice prompt now mentions the "Receipt" title line.
- Lecture 7: The Review now says that negative indexes (
-1 through -len(s)) are also valid.
- Lecture 8: Clearer wording on how indentation marks a block.
- Lecture 9: A small correction in the tolerance example, and a simpler Checkpoint 5 prompt.
- Lecture 10: Clearer explanation of redundant conditions, and new examples in a few practice questions.
- Lecture 11: A more complete answer for the "Same Value for These Inputs" question.
- Lecture 12: Small wording fixes in the loop explanation, the Checkpoint 9 prompt and one model answer.
If something looks off
If a page looks odd, refresh it first with Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac. If you still notice a glitch, let me know. I can easily roll back to the previous version if needed.
Thanks!
